Nowhere is this more critical than in the transport and logistics industry and we’ve pledged to take a lead by setting out our commitment to the environment.
Across the UK, we’re currently assessing all operations that impact on the environment - from fuel efficiency and carbon emissions to vehicle movements and maintenance, tyres and their disposal, and office waste recycling.
We are one of the first logistics companies in the UK to measure our carbon footprint and we’re working in partnership with our customers and suppliers to raise awareness of environmental issues.

We operate a modern, low emission fleet which uses the latest technology engines and our vehicles are fitted with aerodynamic aids such as wind deflectors and side skirts to further reduce fuel consumption.
We strive to route vehicles as efficiently as possible by maximising the number of movements and journey length and all our vehicles are high capacity so we can optimise the amount of product per mile we transport.
We also minimise unnecessary miles by fitting real time tracking devices to our fleet and we’re involved in consultations as part of the campaign for longer vehicles. |
All our drivers are fully trained in fuel efficient driving techniques and we’re training up a new in-house SAFED (safe and fuel efficient driver) assessor.
We significantly extend the life of our tyres by operating a tried and tested three life policy, which involves regrooving and remoulding worn tyres with extra rubber and we’re committed to using Michelin ‘energy’ tyres, which are recycled at the end of their life with Michelin using the old ones as raw material for road surfaces, flooring and even fuel. |
